Why my name book?

The most personalized and meaningful word in a child’s world is his or her name.  And, that name is made up of letters. So, I suggest when you are trying to decide which letters to teach first, start with the letters in your child’s name!

How to use it?

1. This packet includes My Name Book 1.0 & 2.0. Pg1-14 is a full size version and Pg 15-22 is a mini version. Print out all the pages that you need. The number of letters each child has in his or her name will determine the number of middle pages each book will have.  I also put in a few extra pages for practice pages.

2.There is a little empty space at the top of each page. Children can practice writing other letters and numbers or add a drawing if they wish. This space is also used to place their name card for easy viewing.

3.You can pull the name book out one day each week as a regular part of routine. You can sit with them and help them where they need a little extra direction.

4.I would suggest that you provide a printed and laminated name card for each child. When the children sit with their name book, they will place the name card on the table or in the empty space at the top of their page for an easy reference.

5.When the child is finished with the name book for that session, the child will place the name card back into the little sleeve on the inside cover of the back page of the book for safe keeping.

P.S.

1. For My Name Book 1.0 mini version (Pg15-22) that you might think it works better for smaller children, print them out and split each page down in the middle.

2. For the sleeve pocket on the back page, you can buy mini envelops in bulk in dollar store or you can create your own paper pocket to hold the laminated name cards like I do.
